- What I Drive
- 2012 XC60 3.2L
Hello. My car is a 2012 Volvo XC60 3.2L. I disconnected the battery to change the oil, reconnected it, and put the key in to start the car and pressed the start button. However, the car did not start, and the imobilizer message and steering column lock message were displayed. The car doors open and close with the key, but the car does not start. I tried all the methods I found on the internet, but nothing worked. Finally, I succeeded in removing the steering column lock, but there was an empty plastic model in the shape of a steering lock instead of a steering lock. And there was a connector that should be plugged into the steering lock. So I bought a column lock emulator and used it. But the car did not start. Before that, the rear camera, sunroof, passenger airbag, and driver airbag did not work. The horn did not sound either. However, when I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, the sunroof worked again. I ended up having the car towed to the Volvo Culver City dealership and paid $250 for the inspection fee and got an estimate. They said I had to buy a new steering column lock to program it and start the car. But it costs $2570 plus tax. I bought the car used and I can't afford to pay that much to fix it, so I'm posting this to see if there's another way. My English is bad, so you may not understand the post, but please read it with interest.
